Guidelines for News Anchor Competition

Eligibility:
- Open to all college students.
- Each participant must register individually or in teams (if applicable).
- Contestants must adhere to the competition’s timeline and deadlines for submission or participation.
Competition Format:
- Round 1: Pre-recorded News Presentation
Contestants will be required to submit a pre-recorded video (time limit: 2–3 minutes) presenting a news segment to the incharges via email or WhatsApp. Topics can vary (e.g., national, international, or local news). - Round 2: Live News Reading
Participants will read a live news script in front of the judges. This round will test their spontaneity, clarity, and confidence on camera. - Round 3: Interview Segment
Participants may be asked to conduct a short, live interview with a “guest” (judge or another participant), demonstrating their ability to handle questions and interact smoothly.
Judging Criteria:
- Clarity and Articulation
Clear pronunciation, good enunciation, and a confident, engaging tone. - Content Knowledge
Understanding of the news topics being presented and ability to convey it succinctly. - Delivery and Presence
Poise, body language, and confidence while on camera. - Timing
Staying within the given time limits for each segment. - Adherence to Ethical Standards
Ensuring content is unbiased, accurate, and appropriate for all audiences.
Presentation Skills:
- Voice Quality
A pleasant, strong voice with variation in pitch and tone to engage the audience. - Facial Expressions and Body Language
Participants should maintain eye contact with the camera and use appropriate gestures. - Pacing
The flow of the presentation should be natural—neither too fast nor too slow.
Equipment & Setup (for Pre-recorded Round):
- Camera Quality
Ensure good lighting and a clear, well-framed shot. - Sound Quality
Participants must ensure clear, audible speech with minimal background noise. - Dress Code
Professional attire, appropriate for a news anchor role.
Time Limits:
- Pre-recorded segment: 2–3 minutes.
- Live reading: 2 minutes max.
- Interview segment: 2 minutes.
Rules:
- No script reading for the live presentation.
- Any offensive or inappropriate content will lead to disqualification.
- Participants must stay within the allotted time.
- Participants should avoid overly personal or controversial opinions during the news segment.
Prizes:
- The winner will receive a trophy, certificate, or gift card
- Runners-up will receive certificates of merit.
- Participants who demonstrate exceptional performance may be offered direct placement opportunities or internships by our media partners.
Feedback:
- Participants will receive constructive feedback from the judges on their performance.
