Guidelines for Literary Cosplay Contest

 

Overview:

  1. The Literary Cosplay Contest is a creative event where participants dress up as characters from literary works, such as novels, short stories, poems, or historical literary figures. Participants will also present a short performance related to their character.

 

Eligibility:

  1. Open to individual participants only. 

  2. Participants must represent a character from books, folklore, or literary history (not from movies, comics, or anime unless originally from a book).

 

Costume & Props:

  1. Costumes should be realistic and relevant to the chosen character.

  2. Participants may use handmade or store-bought costumes, but creativity is encouraged.

  3. Props are allowed, but no dangerous objects (e.g., real weapons, fire, sharp items).

 

Performance & Presentation:

Each participant will have 2-3 minutes to introduce their character through:

  1. A short monologue, dialogue, or storytelling.
  2. A dramatic performance, poem recitation, or book excerpt reading.
  3. Participants must mention the book and author their character is from.

 

Judging Criteria:

Participants will be judged based on the following:

  1. Costume Accuracy (25%) – How well the costume represents the  literary character.

  2. Character Portrayal (25%) – Acting, expression, and dialogue delivery.

  3. Creativity (20%) – Innovative presentation, use of props, and storytelling.

  4. Stage Presence (15%) – Confidence and engagement with the audience.

  5. Relevance to Literacy (15%) – Connection to literature and character authenticity.

 

Rules & Regulations:

  1. No offensive, inappropriate, or disrespectful content.

  2. No explicit language or violent performances.

  3. Participants must register in advance and provide their character details.

  4. Time limits must be strictly followed; exceeding the limit may result in point deduction.
