Naga Wrestling

Guidelines

 All participating must be a student of the participating college and must carry their college IDs at all times.

 

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Playing Arena
    1. The game shall be played in a circular ring.
  2. Dress Code
    1. Each wrestler shall wear a traditional cloth tied securely around the waist, which will serve as the only legal grip for the opponent.
    2. No additional clothing, accessories, ornaments, or footwear shall be allowed.
    3. The body should be free from oil, grease, or any slippery substance.
  3. Match Format
    1. Each bout shall consist of three (3) rounds.
    2. The wrestler who wins two rounds out of three shall be declared the winner.
    3. Matches shall be conducted on a knock-out basis.
  4. Winning Criteria
    A wrestler shall be declared the winner of a round if:
    1. The opponent touches the ground with any part of the body other than the feet, such as the knee, hand, hip, or back.
    2. The opponent loses balance and falls first.
    3. Clean and decisive throws shall be encouraged.
  5. Tie-Break Rule
    1. In case of a tie, a tie-break round shall be conducted.
    2. During the tie-break, wrestlers shall interlock by placing their toes against each other and continue wrestling until one wrestler wins decisively.
  6. Weight Category
    1. There shall be no weight category.
    2. Wrestlers shall compete based on skill, strength, balance, and technique.
  7. Prohibited Actions
    The following actions are strictly prohibited and shall attract penalties or disqualification:
    1. Biting, pinching, scratching, or kicking
    2. Punching, slapping, or striking of any kind
    3. Grabbing hair, ears, throat, or genitals
    4. Intentional twisting of fingers or joints
    5. Use of abusive or unsportsmanlike language
    6. Deliberate pushing outside the ring to avoid a throw
  8. Safety Rules
    1. Wrestlers must maintain short nails.
    2. Any wrestler found causing intentional injury to the opponent may be disqualified.
    3. In case of injury, the referee may pause or stop the match for medical attention.
  9. Out-of-Ring Rule
    1. If both wrestlers step outside the ring without a decisive fall, the round shall be restarted.
    2. If one wrestler is forced out of the ring due to a valid move, the opponent may be awarded the round at the referee’s discretion.
  10. Officials & Referee
    1. Matches shall be supervised by a referee and/or officials appointed by the organizing committee.
    2. The referee’s decision shall be final and binding.
    3. Officials have the authority to warn, penalize, or disqualify a wrestler for rule violations.
