Weightlifting (Powerlifting-SBD)

Guidelines

 All participating must be a student of the participating college and must carry their college IDs at all times.

  • Eligibility
    • ⚬ The competition is open to all currently enrolled college students. 
      ⚬ Participants must carry a valid college ID card. 
      ⚬ Each participant may compete individually only.

 

  • Events (SBD)
    • ⚬ SquatBench 
      ⚬ Press
      ⚬ Deadlift
      Each lifter must attempt all three lifts.

 

  • Attempts & Scoring
    • ⚬ Each participant is allowed three attempts per lift.
      ⚬ The best successful lift in each category will be counted.
      ⚬ The total score = Best Squat + Best Bench Press + Best Deadlift.
      ⚬ Rankings will be decided based on the highest total weight lifted.

 

  • Weigh-in & Order of Lifting
    • ⚬ Weigh-in will be conducted before the competition.
      ⚬ The order of lifting will be decided by the organizing committee.
      ⚬ Participants must be present when their name is called; failure to report may result in disqualification.

 

  • General Equipment Rules
    • The following equipment is allowed:
      • ⚬ Weightlifting belt
        ⚬ Wrist wraps
        ⚬ Knee sleeves (no knee wraps)
         
    • The following are not allowed:
      • ⚬ Knee wraps
        ⚬ Bench shirts or squat suits
        ⚬ Gloves
         
    • Chalk is allowed; liquid chalk is subject to approval.

 

  • Lift-Specific Rules
    • Squat
      • The lifter must squat until the hip joint is below the knee.
      • The bar must remain under control at all times.
      • The lift must be completed on the referee’s signal.
      • Any downward movement after starting the ascent will result in a failed lift.
    • Bench Press
      • Head, shoulders, and buttocks must remain in contact with the bench.
      • Feet must stay flat on the floor.
      • The bar must pause briefly on the chest before being pressed upward.
      • Uneven arm extension or bouncing the bar will result in disqualification of the attempt
    • Deadlift
      • The bar must be lifted in one continuous motion.
      • Lockout requires straight knees and shoulders pulled back.
      • Hitching, dropping the bar, or downward movement before lockout is not allowed.

 

  • Judging & Referees
    • All lifts will be judged by qualified referees.
    • The referee’s decision is final and binding.
    • No arguments or protests will be entertained during the event.

 

  • Safety Rules
    • Proper warm-up is mandatory.
    • Spotters will be provided; lifters must follow their instructions.
    • Any unsafe behavior may lead to immediate disqualification.
    • The organizers are not responsible for injuries sustained during the competition.

 

  • Code of Conduct
    • Participants must maintain sportsmanship and discipline.
    • Abusive language, misconduct, or disrespect towards officials or participants will lead to disqualification.
    • Use of performance-enhancing drugs is strictly prohibited.

 

  • Awards & Certificates
    • 1st and 2nd winners will be awarded medals/trophies.
    • Certificates of participation will be provided to all competitors.

 

  • Organizing Committee Rights
    • The organizing committee reserves the right to:
      • Modify rules if required
      • Disqualify any participant violating rules
      • Change the schedule due to unavoidable circumstances
