Tetso College Crowned Overall Champion at 6th Pow-woW 2025 National Youth Festival

The 6th edition of the Symbios Pow-woW 2025 National Youth Festival concluded on a high note with a grand closing ceremony at the College Amphitheatre. Tetso College emerged as the overall champion, while Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) secured the runner-up position. The week-long festival, which celebrated literary excellence, cultural diversity, and sportsmanship, brought together youth from across the state and beyond.

Dr. Kevezai Tureng, Director of the College Development Council (CDC) at Nagaland University, graced the occasion as the Special Guest. In his address, he commended the students, participants, organizers, and institutions for their contributions to the event's success. Highlighting the significance of such platforms in fostering unity and growth, Dr. Tureng encouraged participants, stating, “Whether you’ve won a medal or not, the very fact that you stepped in is a winning decision.” He also emphasized the importance of positive reinforcement over fear of failure and urged students to make thoughtful decisions, declaring, “The future is already here.”

Mr. Kvulo Lorin, Chairman of Tetso College, welcomed the guests and acknowledged the impressive participation of 35 institutions in 47 diverse events. The prize distribution ceremony saw Patkai Christian College winning the Folk Drama competition, with Tetso College as the runner-up. In sports, St. Joseph University and Immanuel College claimed victories in men’s volleyball, while Don Bosco Kohima and Patkai College excelled in the women’s category. Basketball titles went to Don Bosco Kohima (men) and Kohima Science College (women). In football, Dimapur Government College clinched the championship, with Sakus Mission College as the runner-up.

Dr. Rajesh Tanti, Convenor of Pow-woW 2025, expressed gratitude to sponsors and stakeholders before officially closing the event. The ceremony began with an opening prayer by Thujoi Rhakho, Assistant Professor of Music at Tetso College, followed by the college anthem, “Strive for Excellence,” performed by the Tetso Choir. Special performances included a duet by the Road to Fame runner-up and a captivating dance by JN Aier College. The event concluded with a surprise act by Abdon Mech, who performed his single, “Taking My Heart.”

This year’s festival saw participation from 35 institutions across Nagaland and Assam, making it a resounding success. The event was chaired by Sungtinaro Jamir (BA 6th Semester, Psychology) and Kaiminthang Singsong (BA 2nd Semester, Mass Communication).
